Java 097
Closing in on Java #100!
For those of you following my other webcomic, Kickman, you may have noticed I missed that week’s strip on Sunday. I’ve been going through some major life changes this year (all good things for once), so I’m really pressed for time these days. The entire month of March I will be traveling, but shouldn’t have any problems finding Wi-fi to upload comics from the road. Depending on how well I get along with my lovely traveling companion, we may be traveling cross-country for several months after that. So I’m trying to take steps now to make as much of my income portable as possible.
One of those steps is I plan to re-draw every Java Jaguar strip from the beginning and see if I can get a Comic Syndicate to pick up the title for newspaper and magazine publication. That would be huge, and I think they accept like 2 or 3 titles a year looking for the next Beetle Bailey, but that would be a huge windfall for me as I start exploring the world now after postponing the early years my life. If you want to help keep me alive while traveling, please consider supporting both Java and Kickman on Patreon. Because, one of these days, for lack of $1.00 worth of gas we may end up having to hitchhike through a bad part of the country and end up getting abducted by a gypsy-biker-vampire gang. And you could easily prevent that just by supporting my work and life for $1.00 a month.
“Dyma’r ddraig goch” as one might say somewhere on the Atlantic coast of an island off Europe.
In Klingon that’s, “Your dainty waste pouch.” That’s weird.
Matt, you’re showing your ignorance. It’s Welsh for “This is the Red Dragon”. Most likely has roots both as a battlecry and rallying phrase for the Welsh. It is unclear whether the Red Dragon represents a now-extinct species of reptile. Most legends have a basis in fact, and we humans are… talented… in the art of extincting, so maybe…
Maybe the talking jaguars were hunted to extinction by the dragons? o.0
Travel safe, Matt, and remember that if you have no safety net in case of trouble then trouble could *end* you. Seriously. Travel safe, and have family or friends you can fall back on. If you don’t, then make damn sure you have a reserve fund. Don’t want to lose you, or your comics. 🙂
Ha! There is not enough internet to show off my full ignorance! Actually I did run it through Google Translate first but decided to reply in Klingon to make myself appear more nerdy than I actually am… webcomic street cred.
Thanks for the well wishes. Fortunately I am traveling with an experienced world traveler and we are not venturing far from civilization, so we should be safe. I will do my best to continue to update from the road, and who knows, not working a 9-5 I should be able to make more comics than less.
That’s phunny. “Y ddraig goch” is the symbol on the official flag of Cymru.
