Yes, that is below minimum wage but I don’t think a sphinx can be a citizen, so it’s cool to pay them pennies. Not actual pennies, because a copper penny is worth like 3 cents, which would make his daily pay almost a dollar! And that would be about the average daily wage of a quarter of the world’s population.
And we can’t pay the sphinx more than a human gets!

Somebody may need to explain real estate to him. Assuming he works every day like Matt apparently does: .30*365.25*100=10,957.50. Before taxes.
Add in compound interest at 4.5%!
I suppose he might get some fringe benefits, like devouring customers.
Maybe he can have side-hustle doing cameos, dispensing sphinx-wisdom.
Or writing fortune cookies

$0.30 daily, at 4.5% annual, compounded monthly for 100 years = $214,210.89 ($10,920.30 total principal + $203,290.59 earned interest). That total is actually on the low side because I had to fudge the deposit schedule, the most frequent deposits the calculator will accept is weekly, so I multiplied his daily x 7.
I guess you could get a used, stripped-down lair for around $214k? If you weren’t too picky about location?
