Well, yeah. An encroaching cougar into jaguar territory is cause for concern. Java is self-centered but I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be threatened by a flirty older woman. Really, I think Steve is at fault here…
Obscure fun fact, cougars generally win fights with jaguars in the wild even though they are like 30% smaller. It’s a social science thing; cougars often fight one another so they are used to it while jaguars have a live-and-let-live attitude to each other. Two snarls and a chough and the jaguars leave in opposite directions. Where cougars are more like Klingons, you scream then you attack.
Same reason lions usually beat tigers in the wild (when they meet, which is rare). While in captivity, it’s the other way around. If they are both locked in a cage, the tiger can’t give up and leave and they are bigger and stronger than lions.
To be fair, I think Java took that literally.
