I wonder what lie Matt comes up with this time.
He may just suck it up and tell the truth. Maybe bust out some parkour and ninja skills if Raphael gets uppity.
Here’s how I would handle it.
Leading with a natural laugh, I would say that I had forgotten that I thought that at first and please don’t tell her I got that wrong as it would be embarrassing. And that I was sorry that I’d misinformed him. Of course, we’re a couple now but with your looks the girls are probably lining up anyway…
And segue into natural conversation.
A mild self-effacing comment followed by a complement. Excellent strategy. But I was thinking he’d be more like, “Hwuh? Uh? Oh, um… Java, get him!”
She’s from the isle of Lesbos?
Would that work?
That also is a good answer.
